Regimen:

I shampooed my roots and the length of my hair (twice) with the KCCCS, then wrapped the length of my hair in a towel and gently squeezed for about 5 seconds (no rubbing) to remove the excess water.  I applied about a nickel sized amount of the KCKT to each half of my hair.  I worked it through a little with my fingers to evenly coat my hair; when I detangled with a comb, it slipped easily through my hair with a total of about 10 strands of hair lost (proving it to be an incredible detangler).  I put my hair up in a bun under my shower cap and finished showering.

Once I’d finished, I took my hair down, did nothing to dry/remove product or water, and sectioned my hair into four sections.  I raked in about a dime sized amount of the KCKT to each section, clipping it back up as I went to keep it from drying out.  I then divided each of the four sections in half, took a small scoop (about a quarter sized) of the KCCC, emulsifying it in my hands and applied from roots to tips, making sure to evenly coat my hair; if I felt “dryer” sections, I’d add about a pea sized amount of product.  I smoothed each half section together, clipping them back as I went until I’d finished half of my head; I then scrunched and gently clipped my hair back out of my face.  I repeated this on the other side as well.

Then I put on my head band for lift, with my hair naturally parted (not perfectly) down the middle.  I diffused for 30 seconds (on low/warm setting) around my crown/roots and then the length of my hair; I did the same thing on the cool setting.  I let my hair air-dry for about an hour or so, pulled it back in a low, loose ponytail with an additional hair tie loosely tied about 2 inches from the ends, and put on my sleep cap.  I tried to sleep on my sides to not flatten my hair or rub away all of the product during the night.

I removed the cap about 10 hours later; my hair was still very crunchy/defined and felt slightly damp in the back.  I turned my head upside down to separate the curls a bit and made my part.  I carefully separated the curls a little more with my fingers (trying not to disturb the natural curl pattern) and used the diffuser on cool all over my head (about 30 seconds for each area).

Results:

I don’t care for the crunch, but I will NOT scrunch and lose the hold I have.  It’s been about 3 hours and my hair is softening and fluffing a bit as it dries (not “big” by any means).  It’s definitely “firm” on the top layer, but if it continues to fluff, I’ll be totally fine with that.  I don’t see getting second day hair being a problem.

Update/Final Comments:

It’s very rainy today; my hair is not “drying” out and puffing up like it did the other times, possibly due to the humidity.  This is also the first time I applied all of the products immediately after shampooing (not just the KCCC the morning after).  I’ve followed the instructions and so far I’m pleased with the results.  It’s still early, but my hair is much more presentable than the last time (super crunchy ALL DAY), so the “wash and sleep” method seems to be working out better with this product line.  The diffusing also seems to be a great addition to the regimen.  My hair is moving and defined, which is great.  It is a bit firmer than I care for but I’ll take that over frizz; I think it’ll soften up in a few hours.  It’s just a shame that I can’t have my hair looking how I want it to for the majority of the day (soft with movement but not frizzy).  So far, the Ecostyler/African Pride Bouncy Curls combo is the only way I can get that, but it starts off so disgusting.  I’ll keep trying different combinations, and I may just have to adapt to having fluffier hair in the end, but the right amount of product (hopefully no more than two products on my hair at one time) should get me where I want to be.
